This sale is to purchase a really quirky and oh so rare, vintage Artnouveau periodbrooch in the classic Suffragette colours of white, peridotand amethyst,picked out in the sought after \'Give Women the Vote\' crystal setting. This is an antique Sterling silverbrooch. The brooch is in a charming lily of the valleydesignandis picked out incrystals ofamethyst, peridot andclear. Thisbrooch dates from around 1901 and isfully marked to the rear with the makers mark and hallmarked for Birmingham, England. We are providing a charming period gift box with this item as it will make a great gift!

We were fortunate enough to be able to purchase a very large collectionof Edwardian jewellery from an avid collector, many of which we have sold overthe last 12 /18 months. We were able to purchase the remnants of the collection in spring2017 from the deceased estate of the collector.
About: This type broochis exceptionally rare today’s market and were not available commercially inperiod, so many would have been adapted from period brooches by jobbingjewellers, resulting in some unusual designs and a large range of styles. Thisbrooch is from an earlier period and would have been up to 10 years old whenadapted and isof good quality, so a rare survivor?
The glass stones featured are Peridot forGreen,AmethystforViolet,clear crystal forWhite,supposedlysymbolizing the Suffragette movements mantra,Give Women theVote?These colours were first adopted in C1900 and the coloursrepresentGreen for Hope,White for purity andVioletfor dignity.
This brooch: is in made up of sterling silver. Itfeatures a popular art nouveau design of lily of the valley, and is set withsparklingperidot,amethyst& clear crystals. The overall affect is one of great charm.The broochhas asafetybar clasp to the rear which is in good order, which isnotsilver. It is fully stamped to the rear.The brooch measures 2.25\'\' in length and is 0.5\'\' wide. It has anoutstanding period patina and has been well loved in the past.
The box
The box is a charming period card board gift item and is invintage condition 2. It shows only age related wear and a small tear to the edge of the lid, which is secure. Please see the photos?
Condition
Thisitem is in vintage condition 1. There is no damage to any of the componentsapart from surface scratching to the larger glass crystalsand some agerelated delamination to the metal work including minor scratching tothesilver finish, which does not detract from the item’s charm or wearability.The bar clasp is in good order and may be the original. The box is described above.All ofour jewellery is carefully cleaned and checked before sale.
