SUPER RARE ANTIQUE ART NOUVEAU GENUINE WMF BEADS NECKLACE:
$1950.00

This rare Art Deco necklace was manufactured by the WMF factory in Germany. WMF, or Wuttembergisches metallwarenfabriek, gained recognition for its fine metalwork and for the fine iridescent glass items manufactured during the years 1926-1938. The glass designer, Karl Wiedman perfected the technique of iridized surfaces used by the famed Tiffany, Loetz and Steuben factories and began producing the \"MYRA \" Krystall. The technique involved the use of a thin layer of silver placed upon the glass surface which is etched with iridescent metal salts. The glass was transformed into a matte finish having translucent rainbow hues. Further information on the process and history can be obtained online in the Anticlopedia Antiques.

This particular example is a full stand of golden/green beads with beautiful flashes of mauve. The necklace measures 17 3/4 inches long and retains the s original spacers, chain and screw closure. The beads range from 7.5-8 mm. Each of the 48 beads has slight variations in size and color , as each is blown and takes on its own hue and finish. This characteristic is the very reason these necklaces are coveted. Finer than any strand of pearls, this is understated and refined.

Germany, circa 1930.
