This is asuperb lidded Tobacco jar with the blackamoor males head wearing the hat with tassels of which:
during our research we have been informed itcertainly dates from the 19th century.
Dates about c1880s.
Of a european origin.
Incised numbers under base.
Tobacco jar with the head of the wearing a tasseled hat.
Curly hair showing underneath the hat.
Wonderful facial detailing.
Overall max over size of about 4.25 x 3.5inches.
Overall height of about 6inches.
Max overall size of the base of about 3.75 x 3.5inches.
Condition:considering the age, the overall condition is very good and is not subject to any major blemishes except:
glaze chipping to the edge of the hat by the tassel and underneath to the edge.
Base has minor chipping to the collar.
Due to age: subject to rubbing and would benefit with an internal clean, which is easy to do.
