From the days when electric shocks were thought to be good for you!

In my estimation it dates from around the early 20th Century, circa 1920s, but please make up your own mind about this.

The instrument measures approx 8 1/2 inches (220mm) deep, by 6 1/2 inches (170mm) wide, by 4 inches (100mm) tall and is housed in an oak case.

The apparatus consists of twin adjustable coils, with attendant switch gear, housed in an oak and nickle plated metal case

The case has a hinged lid, with a label inside which names the maker as

and contains the instructions for use.

The electrical fittings and switch gear are nickle plated.

It would have been powered by a battery (not present.)

The electrodes handles would have been placed on, or held by the patient (or victim!) and the position of the coil control adjusted to produce a tingling electric shock.

I can see no obvious reason why it would not still work if connected to a suitable power supply, but I have not tried it, so it is SOLD AS UNTESTED.

It is in good condition, with light wear consistent with its age, but no major damage or woodworm.

This is a fine example of its type and it would make a great addition to any collection.
