You are offerding on a WONDERFULLARGE early 19c golden burr elm veneered restored and repolished jewellery box.Dates approximately 1820/1850.

FULLY LOCKS

In WONDERFUL restored condition.

No missing or replaced veneer.Superb colour to the veneer in wonderful condition.

The top is veneered in twosections and is not a split. The veneer cut would have been cut in two sectionsto avoid the top from splitting in future. Also the cut would not have beenwide when originally glued in place for a full piece to go right across. Thethird reason is that burr elm was very expensive and only used on the bestboxes.

Box retains the original 2lever lock, top catch with two replacement top pins, and with the originalhinges.

Supplied with a silk tassel andVictorian key that FULLY LOCKS thebox that locks with relative ease. Instruction given once sold.

The lid opens fully to reveala wonderful interiorthat boasts a later wooden tray finished to a superb standard that compliments.This has been relined in expensive velvetmaterial of thehighest quality, the same as the interiorof the box.

All the added dividers withinthe tray can easily be repositioned or removed if desired. The tray can holdmany rings in an upright position.

Underneath the additionaltray and beneath the base of the box have also been lined in velvet to stop anyscratches to other surfaces.

A superb box, and would make a fantasticgift.
