A classical mythological story painted by many of the masters. This is an exceptionally fine example with putti and cupid surrounding Venus emphasizing her beauty however temporary that might be. A masters touch is evident in this beautiful painting. The painting is in excellent condition relined in the 19th Century with a warm period varnish - gallery label verso from when this was carried out. Some craquleur commensurate with age and some darkened varnish. Measures 41\" x 26 3/4\" and 48 1/2\" x 31\" in its good gilt frame. A fantastic image on a grand scale - you will not be disappointed !!
