This is a superb & original large art deco wooden oak crucifix with the mounted headof Christ ofwhich:
During our research we have been informed it certainly dates from the art deco period of the c1930s and is of a french origin.
It was part of a recent clearance of a convent of which had many items of interesting religious items.
To the rear: a French stamp in two areas with date of c1938.
Large wooden oak cross with the intricate decoration to the four ends.
Intricate carving of the head of Christ wearing the crown of thorns mounted onto the cross.
Part of the carving of the head of Christ is relief carved and forms part of the cross.
Art deco design and decoration.
Max overall size of about 24.5x 15.5inches.
Max depth of about 2inches.
Condition: Considering the age, the overall condition is excellent and is not subject to any major blemishes.
