They are made from porcelain, and are covered in a beautiful flambe glaze! The color is flowing, mottled red, with bright streaks of blue and purple. This pair is really spectacular as can be seen in the photos. The form is simple and very elegant. Each vase measures approximately 7 1/4\" tall, by 4 1/2\" wide and deep at the widest area. They are in very good antique condition! The runny glaze was cut from the kiln shelves and ground around the edges as can be seen in the photos. One vase has two chips to the foot as can be seen in the photos, and the other vase has a few small similar areas near the foot. These are quite possibly from production when the vases were pulled from the kiln shelves. This cannot be seen when displayed. Please examine the photos carefully as they are an important part of the description.
