This is a superb pair of large Staffordshire sheepwith the applied chipped decorationwith the male & female figurines of which:

During our research we have been informed they certainlydate from themid 19th century.

Datec1860s.

A left and a right.

Wonderful portrayal & decoration of the large sheep with applied chipped decoration.

A male & female sheep, a ram and a ewe.

Separate rear legs.

To the front of the sheep: the kilted male figure & female figurine in delightful dress attire with plumed onto the decorativeoval base with the gilt bands.

Eachhas an overall height of about 8.25inches.

Max overall size of the hollowed base of about 4.75 x 2inches.

Condition: Considering the age: the overall condition to both is very goodand both are notsubject to:

any major blemishes except:

Due to age: both heads of the figures have been remounted onto the bodies.

both have cracks, hairlinesto the rears which continues underneath the bases edge to one.

Minor hip to the edge of the bases edge underneath to other.

Also, again due to age: areas of rubbing.
