Please scroll down below description for more pictures.I recently had a call to an old manoir here in Normandie that is due for restoration.
They had discovered out in the barns apple crates filled wonderful 18th century linens that were deep brown with dust after the years of storage. I have been laundering like a lunatic are washing beautifully. I am listing batches as I get them laundered!!
All rustique hand loomed, homespun coarse linen and hemp that would have been woven as part of a cottage industry.
I have salvaged what I could and what I have is strong, durable and wonderful for period projects.
The weave is strong and tactile yet still soft and pliable. All a soft creamy white.
This is one long looms width length that has been hand hemmed at the top and bottom edges.
Width : one looms width with both selvedge edges present 33\"
Length 9 feet 8\"
I can find a couple of small holes and one very small brown mark.
Perfect for cutting for projects and lots and lots of good useable period linen here.
There are some stitch remains down one edge from its precious life, they are easily removed!
All tied up with number 82 linen embroidered tape!!This wonderful old linen is hand worked hand loomed and a fabulous period textile treasure.I have more batches from the same location in myother items.
