Sir Ahmed Salman Rushdie was born in Bombay in 1947. His second novel, Midnight\'s Children, was awarded the Booker Prize in 1981. In 2007, he was knighted in England “for his services to literature”. This book, the U.S. first edition, is a portrait of Nicaragua\'s people, politics, and poetry based on Rushdie\'s 1986 trip to that country. The black binding of this volume is clean, tight, and square with no wear. The contents are unread. The dust jacket is unclipped, clean, and bright with no wear. The only two detractions are a remainder mark at the bottom of the text block adjacent to the spine and Crown Books sticker on the front pastedown.
