The Sansui AU-5900 is one of Sansui’slegendary amplifiers that is highly sought after today. This is one of the younger brothers of thevenerable AU-7900 and really kicks! Thismodel is rated at 45 watts per channel (with 0.1% THD), has an incredibly warmtube-like audio quality, and has a solid damping factor of 80! This is 45 watts measured by 1970’s standardsand will outperform many of today’s amps rated at 100 watts. Sansuiover-engineered these units to the point that they regularly produce power thatsignificantly exceeds this rating in fact, this unit measured 57 watts perchannel on the oscilloscope.The AU-5900 produces beautifully rich audio because it was engineeredwith a sharp attention to detail, the highest quality components, and hand-craftedworkmanship.

This unit features fantastic over-engineeredconstruction in both the chassis and electronics design. The AU-5900 was engineered with highly flexible features such as:

+ Capability for two sets of speakers

+ Bass, midrange, and treble controls

+ Two auxiliary circuits

+ Two phono circuits – one with selectable phono cartridge loadsettings

+ Loudness control

The AU-5900 also has preamp-outand main-in jacks so that it can be used as a preamp or a power amp in addition to an integrated amp. A subwoofer can also be driven off thepreamp-outputs.

This unit has been painstakingly restored, is in excellentcondition, and sounds fantastic!

+ All of the aluminumelectrolytic capacitors have been replaced on the power amp driver circuitboard, the equalizer circuit board, and the tone control circuit board, thefunction selector board, and the power supply circuit board with brand-newhigh-quality Nichicon / (Muse), ElnaSilmic II, and Panasonic FC series capacitors except for the large powerfilter caps (see pictures)

+ Replaced all diodes that tend to degrade overtime

+ Replaced bias control transistors with brandnew high quality Fairchild brand devices

+ Polyester film capacitorshave been added to the main filter caps for better power supply regulationresulting in tighter bass

+ The output transistors wereremoved and reinstalled with new thermal compound and brand new mica insulators

+ The output relay was replaced with abrand-new Omron relay

+ All of the old Sansui glue has been removedfrom all circuit boards

+ All solder joints reflowed on the Powersupply and output driver boards

+ The exterior is in excellentcondition with blemishes typical of its age

+ All controls have beenmeticulously cleaned, deoxidized, and lubricated and operate smoothly to thetouch

+ DC offset and Bias settingshave been adjusted to factory specifications

+ All lights/LEDs are fullyoperational

+ The unit has been cleaned
