Amazing condition on these 2 beautiful pair of Japanese Kutani Nippon era Vases, which are hand painted with what seems to be enamel. Both jars are signed on bottom with the \"Kutani\" gold on red and underglazed mark. Also, I assume that the name of the painter is on the Flag of the ship, but I do not speak or read ancient Japanese. The dating this piece can be from either the late 1600\'s (Edo period), to any time all the way up to the early part of Meiji period. No loss of color, no damage, and in like New Condition after all these, possibly multiple hundreds of years. This is \"Nippon\" porcelain because it is before things were marked \"Japan\", for those of you who do not know what that word means. Here is a bit of info I got on the style. Other people have produced similar pieces in modern times, but the markings are different (depending on the destination, or company), and the newer made ones are even quite popular, because of the desire to have the style of pieces in their ancient history revived and kept alive. Nobody knows the actual time that is defined as the beginning of marking or not marking them \"Kutani\", but they were always marked during the time stated before. Later pieces through the Meiji period sometimes only names would appear on the piece. Now pieces made in this style are marked completely randomly, based on the maker, exporter, importation marks, etc. This is a well known mark, and can be found all over the internet in different colors, styles, configurations, or even stamped because of the hand painting, sometimes it is hard to read the marks, but the same hand made both of these jars, as you can tell by the painting style on the bottom mark, as well as on the pieces themselves. The flying cranes on both vases are identical in brush stroke, color, and form. This is a museum quality set, and I am setting the price very low with , and as I do not decorate in Japanese antiquities any longer, I will be posting lots of Japanese antiques and antiquities, so be sure to check out my other sales. Good luck to all buyers. These are a one of a kind find for sure.
