Signed Japanese Satsuma Koro
This is a fine Japanese earthenware censer. It has a lobed body that tapers into four feet with a pierced lid. The body of the censer isdecorated with floral cartouches of chrysanthemums, irises and a few other flowers. The lid is nicely decorated with chrysanthemums and gilt scrolls on agosu blue ground. There is a gold Shimazu mark and artist signature on the base.
Condition:There is a small chip on the inside rim of the lid. (3/16\") Please see photos.
