This sale is for alarge size VICTORIAN hardback edition entitled “Sinai and Palestine,” subtitled “In Connection with Their History,”by Arthur Penrhyn Stanley, D.D.,F.R.S., illustrated with 7 fold-out maps in COLOUR and 5 plans, and including alarge fold-out frontispiece diagram in COLOUR showing the Elevations of Egypt,Sinai & Palestine.

It was publishedby John Murray, of London, in 1864 and states “Twelfth Thousand”.

The book measures 9inches x 6.25 inches x 1.6 inches and has 560 pages (+ maps), which arehand-cut to all rims.

The book is ingood neat condition for its age, with minor wear/bumps to the original clothhardback cover, with a previous owner’s pencil signature at the front and noother ink or pencil markings in the book. The binding is very good with noloose or missing pages or maps (the book has been professionally rebound, re-backedretaining the original cloth and with replacement yellow tinted blankendpapers). The map of Egypt facing page36 and a couple of the other maps have small closed tears to the edge of themargins. There is no dust-jacket.
