Here is a well-preserved, beautiful, clean and fully working vintage Singer electric sewing machine. It has high-gloss black enamel, bright and near-perfect gold filigree decals, and bright metal parts, and gives smooth sewing operation. It shows only minimal signs of use and wear; there are some very small chips along the front edge of the bed. It can sew many types of fabric, from chiffon to sailcloth, and forms a perfect lockstitch at all settings, including reverse/\"back tack\". The vertical stitch-length regulator has a metal rectangular cover/guide and a white Bakelite lever, a more unusual style for the Singer 66.An original \"Singerlight\" with on/off knob and glass lens illuminates the sewing bed; replacement bulbs are also available in stores and online.
The machine head has been thoroughly cleaned, oiled, adjusted and tested.It can sew many types of fabric, from chiffon to sailcloth, and forms a perfect lockstitch at all settings, including reverse/\"back tack\".
The Simanco #BA 3-8 motor is in very good condition, has been lubricated, and runs fast and quietly for an external-mount motor. It is belt-driven and has a new rubber belt. Specs as printed on motor label: Cat. No. BA 3-8, S.S. Au. 52-17-1, The Singer Mfg. Co. SIMANCO Elizabethport, NJ, 110-120v, 8.53Amps, 25-75 Cycles AC and DC, Made in USA.
The bobbin winder works well and has a new rubber tire. This machine uses steel 66-class drop-in bobbins (do not use plastic bobbins), and standard sewing machine needles, all widely available in sewing stores and online.
This is a low-shank side-mount model. You can use all of the vintage (side-mount) Singer feet and accessories with this machine including Buttonholer and Zig-Zag attachment, along with many of the new ones such as a walking foot.
Treadle-Convertible!This 66-16 can be used in a vintage Singer treadle (foot-operated) sewing cabinet for non-electric operation. Install in a treadle cabinet, remove the motor and small belt, attach the long treadle belt, and sew!
Listing is for the machine head only. This sewing machine will fit into most vintage Singer sewing machine cabinets. The bed measures 14.5\"x7\" and has holes in the back edge for the two cabinet post hinges.
