Cast Silver. Commemorating the centenary of the Battle of the Puente de Sampayo. Coin/medal suspended from royal crown. Obverse having a portrait of Colonel Pablo Morillo. Reverse showing the blown up bridge over the Sampayo. On original period ribbon/pin. A little on the history of this medal: The battle of Puente de Sampayo between the French under Marshal Ney and the defending Spanish soldiers and militia was a crucial event in forcing the occupying French from Galicia in 1809.

Measures: medal is a scant under 1 1/4\" across (3 1/2\" long by 1 1/2\" at widest overall including ribbon/pin)

Marked: see photo (no marks found, these are supposed to be silver)

Condition: Very Good (correct original period ribbon is in nice shape but is faded)

I will However automatically insure items valued over 100.00 (which means that you pay for it and the insurance amount will be added to the handling fee). If the item value is under 100.00 and you would still like Insurance please let me know upon completion of sale.
