One-eyed Leprechaun Atop his Pot of Gold by Artisan Cynthia Baron
Crafted by artisan Cynthia Baron, this leprechaun with his eye patch has such great attitude. The artist, Cynthia Baron was very well known in the early 80\'s and 90\'s. Her specialty was elves and miniatures. This leprechaun is very well made, I believe from \"sculpey\" (see article below) The entire figure, leprechaun and pot is 6.5 inches tall and 5 inches width and depth. A Wonderland of Fictional Figures -- Cynthia Baron draws on fiction and fantasy to sculpt her diminutive creatures.Cynthia Baron is an artist who possesses special talent in the sculpting of miniature figurines resembling elfin creatures characterized in tales and legends.Among her creations, which are 1” = 1; 2 ½” and 5” in height, are elves, a sleeping Santa Claus with his troop of elfin helpers, a wicked witch, Alice-In-Wonderland’s Mad Hatter and screen characters such as Charlie Chaplin, a Keystone Cop, and Jackie “The Kid” Coogan. Cynthia first became involved in miniatures in 1972, when at a doll show she bought a miniature piece which she discovered was made of bread dough. Intrigued by this, she began sculpting miniature bread dough doll house toys herself.Her career was inspired by the artistic influence and encouragement of Gordon Anderson, a talented sculptor involved in the movie industry. She bought one of Gordon’s elf figures and felt it needed a companion in a scene. To make the figures appear more lifelike she uses movable parts, made possible through a construction technique using wire joints and elastic.She takes much care and patience in the costuming process. This is where each figure assumes its own distinctive personality.
