Here is an amazing piece of authentic signed and marked Sterling silver ,Black Star & Gorham and Silversmith\'s name Sciarrotta and Hand Made By Sciarrotta. Also numbered 127. Full size and not a mini!! Measurements are 6 and 1/2 x 4 and 1/2 x 3 inches. In great preowned condition. Here is some historical information about the Silversmith. Alfredo Sciarotta- Born in Italy 1907-1985. He was smuggled out of Italy in 1944 by U.S. Army Intelligence to work on submarine armaments for allied war effort. After WW11 he setteled in Rhode Island and opened Sciarrotta Silversmith\'s in Newport. His design skills and craftsmanship were noted by such firms as Cartier, Shreve Crump + Low, Gorham and Bailey, Banks and Bittel. They all commissioned special orders. At the time of his retirement in 1975, several of Sciarotto\'s works were in the collection of the Smithsonian Institute in Wash. All said, this is a great piece by a great recognized artisan.
