This exquisite tiny purse mirror has a well used mirror with some surfaces scratches especially in the center as it is is convex. The other side is a beautiful deep blue with a flora & leaf pattern with a tooled sterling silver frame. The handle is marked sterling but there are no hallmarks. Directly above the sterling mark are scratched H5896 only visible with a jeweler\'s loop. It quite possibly have been made for a chatelaine or used by lady in Victorian times as a flirting mirror. There are no cracks, chips, or breaks. the mirror and its decorative back are firmly framed and attached securely to the handle. It measures only 3 3/8 inches long including the handle & 1 3/4 inches in diameter.
