Gleaming and in excellent condition, this late 18th century, from Budapest, Hungary (just before the 1804 Austro-Hungarian Empire) sterling silver ethrog/esrog box, has on its\' lid, a textured, beautiful esrog (ethrog) cast finial which can easily be unscrewed,. This antique, large, oval, box stands evenly and securely and has a perfectly fitted lid. (See measurements in next paragraph.) The mark on the bottom of the box is Budapest, late 18th century, according to Tardy\'s International Silver Marks book, but I just don\'t have the photography skills/camera to show you the marks. It is the first mark listed for late 18th century, (13 above a three tower castle and gate in a round cartouche, page 58 in the Tardy\'s 1985 paperback edition) and an EH maker\'s mark (in an oval cartouche) on the bottom outside of the lower box. Three tower castle and 13 above in circle silver hallmarkat box is 5 1/2 inches long and stands 4 1/2 inches high (to the top of the finial of the esrog), and is 4 inches wide at the bottom\'s widest point. The interior depth is approximately 2 1/2 inches deep. This box has substantial weight. For its\' size, I would describe it as heavy, not light or medium. It has held up beautifully over the years and is in excellent condition.This was an antique family piece, but illness in the family forces sale at this time.
