Here is a set of Franklin Mint Plates from the 1975 limited edition issue of the “The Four Seasons”. The series of four plates, all of which are included here, were designed by Rene Restoueix. The back of each plate is inscribed with its title: Spring Blossoms, Summer Bouquet, Autumn Garland, and Winter Spray. Further, they bear a facsimile of the artist’s signature, a 1975 copyright, and “Champleve On Sterling Silver / Limited Edition”. This particular set was number 1119 in the edition. Individually, the plates vary slightly in weight: 9.0, 9.1, 9.4, and 9.7 ounces, for a total of 37.2 Avoirdupoisounces (1060.2 grams) or 33.9 troy ounces. The plates are in good – but not perfect – condition. An 8” section of Autumn Garland’s rim has slightly dark “splash marks” that will not come off with a pre-packaged silver polishing cloth. Perhaps a more abrasive product will do the trick. The remaining three have a few spots that need polishing, and I also noted a few slight scratches. And, there a few small, slight dents on the back of Spring Blossom. If you’re buying these plates for melt value, than the condition issuesmay beirrelevant to you. But, if you want them to enjoy, youmay either display them as is orcombine a little elbow grease with a good metal cleaner before doing so.
