This fabulous solid sterling silver chalice was manufactured by Preston's Ltd of London, England. The hand engraved piece was made to celebrate the Investiture of the 'Prince of Wales' (Prince Charles) back in 1969. The piece was made in a limited edition of 1000 this being #848. The front of the chalice is hand engraved with 'Prince of Wales - Caernarvon 1969' and shows the Prince of Wales feathers in the center. There is a beautiful four stamp London hallmark on the back of the bowl showing a leopards head, a lion, a letter 'O' and the makers mark 'P.Ltd'It comes in a special leather covered velvet lined box with gold logo and decoration. Chalice weighs 345 grams of solid silver (12.2 ounces) and comes in excellent condition without damage or repairs. Silver value alone is almost $400. It comes complete with its certificate. It measures 6" tall x 3-3/4" in dia. The box is in good shape but the brass clasps are a little corroded and one is loose (but not missing) and is inside the box.
