A fine sterling silver (NOT silver plated) & mother of pearl rattle by Crisford & Norris, Birmingham, England, 1862.

The mother of pearl ring attached to the rounded or bell shaped and ornate top to arounded knob. The bells have an scroll design on the top, with two bells, the tapering bottom stem terminating in a mother of pearl handle.

Very good condition, minor blemishes to be considered with vintage condition.

Fully hallmarked for Birmingham, England, dated 1862, maker\'s mark for Clifford & Norris.

This item is identified as well on the top by Pt359172 believed to be the patent number. The ring holder also has the lion marking on one side and the words PATENT on the other.

Weight: 40 gr / 1.4oz.

To be clear, I obtained my information from 925-1000 dot com. I tried my absolute best to identify the marks, I have photographed as well for your confirmation. They were a little hard to be 100% but to me it is clear that it is a C&N for Crisford & Norris. The other marks are an anchor, lion, and N.

The anchor and lion denote Birmingham, England from 1772-present and the N denotes the age, which was only used up until 1924 and the capital N denotes either 1785 or 1862 as it is outlined in a square and thinner I believe this to be 1862. Now I have no intentions of misrepresenting the piece, so please verify for yourself by pictures. if you need additional pictures to verify prior to purchase or an offer please ask.
