This sale is fora stunning 19th century Philippe Berthier French .950 silver serving spoon. This was purchased from a prominent Washington D.C estate many years ago. I am in the process of downsizing and look to pass these lovely finds on to the community. This is a lovely example mid 19th century French silver serving spoon. It was made by noted master silversmith Philippe Berthier between 1841 and 1851. It is hand decorated in bold French design, with a generous bowl and painstakingly reeded handle, (see pics). It is tastefully monogrammed. It measures approx. 9 3/4\" and weighs 2.760 ounces. It has the \"Minerva\" mark, (see pic 12) which indicates that it is .950 fine silver. There is also the maker\'s mark, (see pic 11). It is \"P\" with a duck or goose symbol and \"B\", for Philippe Berthier. This is easy to date as he was in business from only 1841 to 1851. The spoon is in very good condition, without damage. One for the collection!
