This is a truly remarkable 8 piece Chinese silver tea service, comprising a tray, teapot, coffee pot, sugar bowl, cream jug, covered butter dish, butter knife and sugar tongs (the butter knife and sugar tongs are unmarked.) All the other pieces are stamped S. Co Silver to the rims with Chinese character marks.The height of the coffee pot is 20cm.The length of the tray is 54.5 cm.The total weight is 136oz.All pieces (other than the tongs) are beautifully engraved with climbing bamboo plants on mottled ground around plain reserves.This item sold at the world famous Bonhams saleeers in Knightsbridge, London, on 18/12/13 for £3100.00, and can be found using the archives on their webpage.I am bitterly disappointed at having to sell this in a one day sale and with , but cash shortage dictates that I must. I can honestly say that any reputable saleeers would estimate this for at least £3000-£3500, and there are much inferior Chinese tea services which have sold on for over £5000, so someone should be able to bag an incredible bargain.Any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
