Here is a fabulous early Kestner 143 Character Doll in excellent condition with her original marked body, big brown glass sleep eyes, original plaster pate, older curly mohair wig, fabulous antique silk dress with sash, original pantaloons, slip, and newer socks and shoes. She is 18” tall and marked G Made in Germany 11 and was born in the later 1800s by the Kestner Doll Factory before JDK began marking the heads with the 143 mold numbers.

She had wonderful, smooth creamy bisque with no chips, cracks, or hairlines. Her coloring is fantastic and the sculpting to her full cheeks and upper lip is stunning. She has huge brown glass sleep eyes, all of her eye lid wax, along with painted upper and lower lashes and the early heavy JDK brows. She has two porcelain teeth and a dimple in her chin. She has her original plaster pate and her older curly mohair wig is fabulous. Her original wood jointed and composition Kestner body is in excellent condition and still retains the original finish. It is marked in red on her butt Germany 2. There is some normal wear and what looks like a little touch up on the side of her butt but the color is a good match and her hands and fingers are perfect. There is some chipping on her toes.

The JDK 143 dolls had a chubbier body with a thinner waist and chunky thighs. She is wearing what I think is her original drop waist silk dress in good condition. It has long full sleeves with lace trim around the cuffs and collar. It has a gathered tight waist and flares out beautifully around the bottom. The dress hooks up the back and the top is lined. There are some tears and frayed spots on the dress, mostly on top. She is wearing her antique pantaloons and slip. Her socks and shoes have been replaced.

She has a beautiful antique bow in her hair that help to make her the perfect early Kestner 143 and she would make a marvelous addition to any Character Doll collection!!
