Qashqai are a nomad tribe living in the Fars area of Southern Persia. The carpets of the Qashqai are the best known and most beautiful of the area. The history of the tribes are reflected in the resemblance of the carpet patterns to those of northwest Persia and the southeast Caucasus. Qashqai carpets posses clear and vibrant colors and have designs which includes a wide variety floral repeat patterns as well as medallion compositions. Geometricised animal and bird drawings are also a common feature and are used as part of the repeat patterns or as filler ornaments. These nomad carpets are honestly made, well drawn and woven in joyous colors without appearing brash. Qashqai runners are rare; this one perfect for a 36\" wide hall at is 2\' 8\" x 6\' 1\" (most runners are 1 meter or 39\" wide or wider), is very rare. Wool on a cotton foundation. High knot count.Perfect condition. Looks just like the day it came off the loom.
