This isa superblarge Staffordshirefigurinegroup of: Prince of Wales & Princess of Alexandra of which:

During our research we have been informed itcertainlydates from themid 19th in the Staffordshire Portrait Figures of the Victorian Era by P.D. Gordon Pugh.

Part of text: Usually in white & gilt. Issued in c1862 to commemorate the announcement of the betrothal of the Prince of Wales to Princess Alexandra of Denmark. The marriage took place in c1863. Rarity: Very Rare!!!!

Well coloured.

The Prince in knee length jacket, waistcoat and strapped trousers. Carries a top hat in his right hand.

The Princess, her hair in a snood, and carries her hat over her right arm. She wears a bodice and full length skirt.

Pottery.

Mounted onto thedecorative oval base with the gilt band.

It hasan overall height of about 14.25inches.

Max overall size of the hollowed base of about 9 x 4.5inches.

Condition: Considering the age: the overall condition isvery goodand issubject to:

the head of the princess has been remounted to the body.

Due to age: Minor areas of loss of colour mainly to the hair with:

areas of fine crazing.
