Fresh from a fantastic estate comes this really special Black Forest carved mahogany box measuring 12\" long,8-1/2\" deep and 4-1/2\" tall. This box was absolutely made by a master carver, as it is constructed exactly like a full sized piece of furniture but in miniature. The box is serpentine in form with a shaped top and stepped edges. The box is completely carved on all sides with a shell and leaf pattern and a bow design on the corners. The top is decorated with a pair of swallows in leafy branches. There is a small loss to the edge of one wing and the small feet appear to be missing but the box sits straight and sturdy. All in all this is a truly fantastic box and is about as good as it gets.
