Superb Antique Corniche Cased French Carriage Clock Fully Serviced May 2017:

This clock which comes from my own collection has recently been serviced to prepare it for sale. The clock was originally restored over 4 years ago but is now being sold to fund a recent acquisition.

The current service included a complete strip down of the movement for cleaning and oiling and the case has simply been given a coating of wax to preserve the patina acquired over recent years.

Every single component of the movement was originally cleaned by hand to include the mainspring which was also removed from its barrel.

The original silvered fully compensated lever arm platform escapement was also dismantled, cleaned and rebuilt with the appropriate fine oil.

As can be seen from the listed photos the beautiful original enamel on copper dial and deep blued steel spade style hands are in immaculate condition. The dial still carries the original retailers details \" Mappin and Webb Paris \"

The stunning cast brass Corniche style case was originally dismantled for cleaning and given a light polish prior to a coat of wax. The case has not been polished since but given a further coat of wax. Please note that this case measures 165 mm high with handle upright, 88 mm wide and 80 mm deep. Case parts are stamped with the number 8 and door closes as it should

All the deep beveled glass is in excellent condition.

This superb timepiece is truly one of the best examples I have been fortunate to own.
