Superb Antique Early Victorian Solid Silver and M.O.P Butter Spreader, Ornate:

This is a superb early victorian butter spreader or butter knife. It has a beautiful solid silver blade and mounting and ornately carved mother of pearl handle. The mother of pearl has a lovely patina and iridescence. The silver has a very clear Birmingham hallmark for 1848 and the makers mark is \"H and T\" for Hilliard and Thomason. The spreader is approx 21 cm (8 1/4 inches) long. There is a tiny barely noticable bump near the top of the blade (seen from the back only). There are signs of light wear, commensurate with age. Overall this very special butter spreader is in excellentantique condition.Please see photographs for further details.
