Splendid GeorgeIV Solid Sterling Silver Vinaigrette Made By Ledsam, Vale & Wheeler
Description - Superb antique solid silver vinaigrette with hinged lid and hinged inner grill, The vinaigrette has raised scroll foliate borders and engine turned decoration on all sides with a central cartouche with engraved initials. The interior is silver - gilt (Gold washed) and has a lovely hand pierced and engraved foliate and floral hinged grill.
The vinaigrette is fully hallmarked with the anchor for Birmingham assay, the lion passant, indicating 925 grade solid sterling, the King\'s head, the date letter \"e\" for the year 1828 and the makers mark \" L V & W\" which is Ledsam, Vale & Wheeler.
Condition - The vinaigrette is in good condition, there are no dents, dinks, splits, holes and repairs, the grills hinge is in excellent working order but the lid\'s hinge has some looseness, the decoration is crisp and clear with no rubbing or wear and the interior silver-gilt is nice and bright with no wear.
Dimensions & Weight - The vinaigrette is 3.1cm wide x 2.2cm long, the weight is 18.5 grams.
