This is a superb antique Victorian circa 1890 sterling silver Scottish granite and Cairngorm citrine brooch. The design is very unusual with all the granite stones shaped as lovely tulip heads!
I have collected agates in Scotland for over 20 years and know where most of the lovely gemstones that Victorians used for their classic jewellery were found.
The lovely stones are grey granites from Aberdeen and pink granites from Kemney in Aberdeenshire beautifully carved in tulip head shapes.The facetted stones are golden citrines from the Cairngorm mountain range which have been fully tested by a local jeweller to confirm they are genuine citrines.
The brooch has no hallmarks which is fairly normal for pieces of this age and has been fully tested and is sterling silver. The length is 4.0 cm and the pin and C clasp are in good working condition and original.
