A superb carte de visiteof the three children of Sergeant Amos Humiston of the 154th New York, copied from the original ambrotype found on his body after the Battle of Gettysburg. Backmark of Wenderoth, Taylor & Brown of Philadelphia. These cards were sold to benefit the then in-the-planning National Soldiers\' Orphanage Homestead at Gettysburg, which opened in 1866. I think this card with 1864 copyright date is the first issue. It\'s in superb condition with excellent contrast and clarity. A fine early example.
