Really Superb Lidded Tureen from the renowned Royal Doulton\'s Booths Real Old Willow Majestic collection.The history of Booths factory dates back to the middle of the 1800\'s and gained an enviable reputation for the high quality standards and designs of it\'s products.The Old Willow Pattern tells the sad tale of the star-crossed lovers, Koong-se, the beautiful daughter of a wealthy Mandarin, and his humble accounting assistant, Chang. The action packed tale features the lovers escape from the Mandarin\'s house, their few happy years together, their subsequent death at the hands of the Mandarin\'s soldiers and their transformation into a pair of doves, as seen in the patter.In addition to the Old Willow Pattern to the fluted body of the tureen, it is beautifully decorated with a Deep Blue almost geometric patterned border and a Brown trellis, beneath the rim. Exquisite bands of gilt on either side of this border, together with further genrous gilt to the scalloped rim and stylish handles. The tureen lid is similarily decorated and has the most gorgeous lid finial, also lavishly gilded. The tureen is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks or crazing.
