Superb big Antique Victorian sterling silver c 1890 Scottish agate brooch pin:

This is a superb large quality antique Victorian period circa 1890 sterling silver Scottish agate and Cairngorm citrine brooch. The central thistle cartouche is fabulous with exquisite casting!
I have collected agates in Scotland for over 20 years and know where most of the lovely gemstones that Victorians used for their classic jewellery were found.
The stones chosen are classic grey banded agates from Montrose and the thistle plume has a beautiful facetted golden citrine from the Cairngorm mountain range which has been fully tested by a local jeweller to confirm it is a genuine citrine.
The brooch has no hallmarks which is fairly normal for pieces from this period but has been fully tested and is sterling silver. The length is 5.2 cm ( Just over two inches ) and the pin and C clasp are in good working condition and original.
