This is a superb large sterling silver Antique Victorian circa 1890 Scottish gemstone brooch. The stunning stones are all very high quality examples of Scottish gemstones and the craftsman has chosen some very special pieces to make this exquisite brooch.
I have collected agates in Scotland for over 20 years and know where most of the lovely gemstones that Victorians used for their classic jewellery were found.
The stunning stones are classic, grey banded Montrose agate, high quality green and red speckled bloodstone from the isle of Rum, gold and red agates from Burn Anne in Ayrshire and white and carnelian agates from Glenfarg in Perthshire.
The brooch has no hallmarks which is fairly normal for pieces of this period, but has been fully tested and is sterling silver.The width is large at 5.6 cm ( Two and a quarter inches ) and the pin and locking clasp are in good working condition and original.If when you receive your winning item and for any reason are not happy with the purchase please get in touch before leaving response and I will endeavour to resolve any issue you may have amicably.
