This is a superb antique Victorian circa 1890 9 carat gold Scottish agate and seed pearl stick pin. This is a very high quality piece with superb construction and exquisite stones!
I have collected agates in Scotland for over 20 years and know where most of the lovely gemstones that Victorians used for their classic jewellery were found.
The stunning stones all superbly inset, are orange jasper from the Campsie Fells in Stirlingshire, green and red speckled bloodstone from the Isle of Rum, grey banded Montrose agate and rare gold moss agate from Burn Anne in Ayrshire. There is also a lovely tiny seed pearl in the centre to compliment the other stones.
The pin has a lovely quality 9 carat gold frame which although having no hallmarks has been fully tested by a local jeweller and is 9 carat gold. The pin is 7.0 cm ( Two and four fifth inches ) in length with the head being 1.3 cm wide ( Half an inch ).
