Superb spectacular looking rare early 1800s Georgian Nailsea glass bellows flask:
$299.99

We are listing this very rare (perhaps unique) and quite spectacular looking early 1800s Georgian hand blown Nailsea bellows style glass flask on a knop stemmed foot. Like almost all old glass this piece is unmarked, but it was almost certainly made by England\'s renowned Nailsea Glassworks in the early 1800s. Nailsea was established in 1788 and it was renowned for its exotic hand made pieces, frequently featuring swirling swags of color like this piece (so much so, that any glass pieces in this style are usually called Nailsea glass). The pincered rigaree trim applied vertically on the sides of this piece are a rather uncommon feature for Nailsea pieces, as is the flask\'s bellows shape with the two bellows handles at the bottom. Keith Vincent\'s NAILSEA GLASS does have a picture on page 77 of another Nailsea rigaree decorated bellows style flask in the same shape (including the extended neck with an applied double lip), but that piece has different color swags, and it does not have the stemmed foot of the listed piece (the foot is a distinct advantage for display purposes, since typical bellows shaped flasks standing on their two handles are not very stable). The listed flask was formerly in the Robert Heath glass collection. The late Robert \"Bob\" Heath from Union Maine was a major New England glass collector for decades, as well as being heavily involved in New England glass collecting organizations during that period. This flask epitomizes the quality of his collection and it can best be described as spectacular looking. It is 11.75 inches tall, over 4.5 inches at its widest point, stunning in appearance, and it is in very good condition (a few typical rough edges on the rigaree trim). Please view the closeup pictures and judge for yourself. A beautiful and very rare antique glass flask, and a stunning display/decorator piece.
