LOVELY 19C SOLID MAHOGANY ANTIQUE JEWELLERY BOX - FAB INTERIOR

For sale isa WONDERFUL 19c solid mahoganyrestored and repolishedJ Newman Artists boxbox. Dates approximately 1800/1840. Could be slightly earlier.

In WONDERFUL restored condition. No missing or replaced timber. All the brass work is original and complete.

FULLY LOCKS with relative ease.

Wonderful original solid brass corners. Original solid brass central cartouche. Original solid brass draw handle. The internal solid brass locking pin is also original to the box.Solid brassoriginal keyhole escutcheon.

There is a slight chip on the left corner of the original pottery mixer. It is stamped J Newman24 soho square to the underneath.

The brush rest also has a small chip along the outer right edge. Its original to the box. The wood paintholder is original and in good order.The lining to the lid is also in very good order with minor wear to be expected. The gold gilding is in goo order.

The front draw moves in and out with ease.

The pen nipmay not be original to the box but certainly is old.

Displays wonderful colour. The pictures really do not do it justice.

We have repolishedand waxed the box and its looking superb. There is no lining to the box, and no lining beneath.The box is original as can be.
