AN EXTREMELY RARE AMERICAN HANGING WROUGHT IRON ADJUSTABLE SAWTOOTH TRAMMEL CANDLE HOLDER. New England, circa 1750-1780 in THE ABSOLUTE BEST ORIGINAL OLD SURFACE AND PATINA AND NEAR PERFECT CONDITION.

THEY DON\'T GET MUCH BETTER THAN THIS EXAMPLE. THE BEST ORIGINAL SURFACE AND A VERY RARE FORM IN NEAR PERFECT CONDITION. A COMBINATION WE RARELY SEE IN 18TH CENTURY AMERICAN LIGHTING.

A VERY EARLY FORM WITH A HAND CUT SAWTOOTH ADJUSTABLE TRAMMEL ENDING IS A SCROLLED BOTTOM ARM WITH A CUPPED DRIP PAN AND ITS ORIGINAL CANDLE HOLDER. IT STILL RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL AND HIGHLY DECORATIVE PIG TAIL TOP HANGING HOOK.

These rare pieces of Early American Lighting were used as adjustable table chandeliers as well as working lights.

The surface is untouched with old quality and patina. Great tool marks throughout.
