The 1st and 2nd printings (unknown copies) were published byCompany & Sons and the 3rd printing (unknown copies) was published by ThePrint Mint. The 1st printing had a 50-cent cover price and the 2nd had a75-cent cover price. The 3rd printing also had a 75-cent cover price but can bedifferentiated from the 2nd printing by the Print Mint logo on the front cover.Vaughn Frederic Bodé created his signature character Cheech Wizard way back in1957, when he was merely a lad of 16. Though the yellow-hatted \"cartoonmessiah\" did not officially see print for over a decade, he went on tobecome Bodé\'s best-known and most enduring comic book character. Cheech Wizardappeared in a variety of undergrounds and in a monthly one-pager with NationalLampoon for several years before Bodé\'s self-inflicted death in 1975 at thetender age of 34.

Cheech Wizard resides in some sort of fantasy-land jungle or backwoods with avariety of characters, including his on again/off again lizard pal Razzberry.There are no human males in these backwoods, but there are some luscious women,including one in particular that Cheech Wizard enjoins for all manners offucking and sucking (primarily off camera). In fact, Cheech Wizard is primarilyconcerned about only one thing: his own pleasure, whether that is accompaniedby a woman, a beer or just his own company. He is occasionally prone tophilosophizing, but prefers to dish out insults with his twisted-syntaxdialect. Bodé never allowed Cheech Wizard\'s face to be shown, though it isknown that Cheech Wizard removed his hat on at least a couple of occasions.Cheech Wizard maintains a measurable amount of popularity even today. Bodé\'sunique cartoon style influenced illustrators and grafitti artists for decades,and his influence can also be seen in certain animated works, including thoseby his friend, Ralph Bakshi. After Bodé\'s death, Rip Off Press anthologized theCheech Wizard oeuvre in a four-issue run of comic books, The Complete CheechWizard, which is also available in paperback form. In the decades afterBodé\'s passing, his son Mark produced additional Cheech Wizard adventures,including comics that were partially completed by his father. Mark Bodé\'sCheech Wizard comics come admirably close to replicating his father\'s singularstyle, but it is hard to accept that Cheech Wizard can be given life by anyonebut Vaughn Bodé.

While living in Greenwich Village in the sixties I knew of a little store off Bleecker that specialized in underground comics. Every Friday afternoon after work, I’d go there to see what was the latest version just hitting the shelves, from Wilson, Griffin, Moscoso, Williams, Shelton or Crumb. With several of my hippy friends grooving, and laughing over Mr. Natural, Yellow Dog or the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers, we’d sit around that smoke filled room, sometimes late into the night.

Fast forward, some fifty years later – my wife and I discovered some old cardboard boxes hidden behind junk in the back of our storage locker. It was a dry, cool place and the hundreds of underground comics that had only been read once, were in beautiful condition. It felt like we discovered a pot of gold.

We wrote to dozens of book and comic stores with a list of our inventory. They said, there was no interest, no market and offered us little to nothing. We explained to them that these were complete sets, first editions: Zap Comix, Young Lust, Weirdo, Snatch, Slow Death, Rip Off Comix, Hup, Fantagor, Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers, Cherry Poptart, Bizarre Sex, Arcade Comic Revue, just to name a few. To the retail outlets they were worthless, but to us they were priceless.

Now we offer them on and the collectors are grabbing them up, at our more than reasonable prices. Many we had universally certified with CGC, so you’ll know we’re trustworthy, reliable and have the best of service. Just check the response and reviews to know we’re honest and responsible.
