Convent at Auschwitz

Nice clean hardcover copy of \"THE CONVENT AT AUSCHWITZ\"by Wladyslaw T.Bartoszewski. George Braziller, 1991, first edition. , 169 pp., notes and index.

Condition: Apart from some very light wear to jacket, this book is in great condition inside and out.

From the cover:As a symbol of Nazi war crimes, the Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland is perhaps unequalled. For Jews, Auschwitz is not just on death-camp among many; it is the identifying symbol of the Holocaust. However, the camp was first created to eliminate the Polish intelligentsia, 270,000 of whom died there, and so it is also claimed with similar fervor by Polish Catholics. In 1984, when Carmelite nuns sought to establish a convent in a derelict building which borders the camp, these two groups came into conflict.

Lots of Americana and Minnesota titles this week.
