Very scarce six volume set in wonderful condition which is very rare for this set. Handsomely bound in leather and decorative paper with decorative treatment to all page edges. Volume I features a frontis of Gibbon. These are followed by a lengthy section titled Memories of My Life and Writings and a brief piece, Last Illness and Death of Gibbon. What then follows is Gibbon\'s exhaustive history of the Roman Empire. 706, 715, 714, 715, 701 and 822 pages. 6\" by 8.5\".

Hardback is overall in VERY GOOD condition.

Each volume features decorated paper with leather corners and spines, all very clean showing only minimal wear.
Leather is lightly scuffed in areas, primarily to the corners.
Boards show edgewear, primarily to the top and bottom edges.
Decorated textblocks, all clean, some moderately darkened.
Decorated paper to pastedowns and endpapers, all intact and carefully maintained along the hinges.
All volumes exhibit tight binding.
Interiors are clean showing vibrant type on clean leafs.
Some volumes have foxing to interior though is limited to only a few pages across all volumes.
Spines show red title and author blocks with beautiful gilt trim and gilt design detail.
Volume I shows moderate scuffing to bottom corners and top right back with brief notes in pencil at top right of the front endpaper.
Bookplates to all front pastedowns.
There are a few minor scuffs to the other volumes but overall this set is in excellent condition.
Some foxing to a few back pages otherwise all interiors are very clean.
No writing, highlighting, underlining or other intentional marks.
Book may exhibit additional minor signs of age or wear.
