This sale is for a hardcover copyof The Holy Scriptures: A Jewish Bible According to the Masoretic Text publishedby Sinai Publishing (Tel Aviv, Israel) in 1971.This book includes English and Hebrew translations of the text. This book includes a metal plated outercasing and four blue gem stones, and on one of the first few pages of the book,it says this: ‘The plates of this edition are made from the JEWISH FAMILY BIBLELondon Edition 1881, with the Hebrew and English Text revised by M.Friedlander, Principal, Jews\' College, London’.With the metal plates on the book, the book is a little more than 8 ½ inchesin length, about 5 ¾ inches wide, and about 2 ¾ inches thick. The metal plated case has wear, scratches andseveral areas throughout where the metal is tarnished. This could possibly be removed with a tarnish polishor cleaner, but I will leave that to the buyer to do if he or she desires. The actual covers to the book have some wearand the book is pulling away from the binding at the sides. Also, several pages at the front and back ofthe book have a significant amount of wear, wrinkling and tears at the edges. The book is removable from the metal platedcasing, but this may cause the sides of the book to pull away from the bindingand should be done with extreme caution.There is an inscription on the first blank page and writing on thepresentation page, but I flipped through the book a few times, and I didn’t seeany writing, marks or highlighting in the text.The ‘Our Family Record’ pages at the back of the book are not filled in. This book is a very readable and usablecopy. The book you see in the picturesis the exact book you will receive if you win this sale.
