THIS IS A GREAT SET OF IRISH TEA SPOONS SET IN STERLING SILVER.THE SPOONS HAVE A BEAUTIFUL IRISH CELTIC POINT DESIGN WITH A STAR BURST PATTERN.THE HANDLES ARE WONDERFULLY ORNATE AND ARE IN GREAT CONDITION.THE SPOONS HAVE A MONOGRAM HALF WAY DOWN THE HANDLE OF \'J & NC\' IN A SCROLLING TEXT.THE SPOONS ARE FULLY HALLMARKED SHOWING THE HARP AND HIBERNIA OF THE DUBLIN ASSAY OFFICE AND THE DATE LETTER \'I\' 1904.THE MAKERS MARK IS \'J.S\' WHICH WE BELIEVE TO BE JOHN SMITH.THE CRAFTSMANSHIP OF THE IRISH SILVER WAS EXCELLENT HAVING ABSORBED MANY EMIGRANTS GOLDSMITHS AND SILVERSMITHS AFTER THE REVOCATION OF THE EDICT OF NANTES IN 1685 AND THEIR INFLUENCE CAN BE TRACED IN THE PRODUCTION OF IRISH SILVER OF THE 18th CENTURY.PLEASE SCROLL DOWN TO SEE MORE PHOTOS.A LOVELY ITEM.e937
