LOVE this one! Blue white standards, tinted pink, domed over medium blue falls with a rosy cast and rosier hafts drawing attention to white beards tipped tangerine. Lightly laced, loping ruffles and a sprinkling of diamond dusting to top it all off! Strong growth with 8-10 buds on superior stalks to 40\" at mid spring. Purple based foliage. CHARMING! (Johnson \'10).

Why include the awards? Many irisarians useawards as a factor in selecting new irises to try. The goal of the awardssystem is to call attention to new varieties of horticultural merit.Roughly 80-90 (out of hundreds) new tall bearded irises that have been incommerce for two years are awarded the Honorable Mention (HM). Two yearsafter getting the HM, varieties are eligible for the Award of Merit (AM).This award is given to roughly 12 varieties each year. The next level isthe John C. Wister medal which goes to just three of the eligible AMs peryear. The next level is the W. R. Dykes Medal that is given to one iris ayear. This award however is limited to US introductions only so manyirises are excluded from being able to receive this great award. Thatbeing said, there are lots of great irises out there that have few if anyawards.

Bearded irises are quite hardy, drought tolerant and easyto grow. They grow between 10\" to 40+\" tall and after blooming, theleaves remain evergreen throughout the rest of the summer season! Theythrive in all types of soils and conditions but do best with at least 6 hoursof sun in well-drained soil. They are a wonderful perennial (comes backevery year) that multiplies, an average of 2-6 new babies annually, adding moreand more beauty to your garden as time goes by!

Irises bloom and reproduce in theSpring.Then they need short period of time to regenerate from theenergy spent during that time. A successful transplant is contingent on this periodof rest and restoration. Therefore, digging/shipping does not occurimmediately. For irises, planting season usually occurs in late summer tofall, preferably at least 6 wks before the first frost.

You\'ll receive 1 fresh/healthy, bloom-size, bare-rooted rhizome/fan that\'s freshly dug, cleaned, trimmed, labeled (guaranteed true to registered name) and dried (for 1 day) just before shipping via Priority Mail.
