$1800.00

Presented here are four original printings of The Daily Picayune newpaper from New Orleans in 1893 & 1898. Each edition is themed by the various \"krewes\" that put on the parades during Mardi Gras, each with chromolithographs showing the float designs for that krewe\'s street pageant. The Krewe of Proteus was the first have this done in 1886 and this kind of thematic edition was then sold on street corners until 1941. The editions included here are: Proteus Edition, Monday February 13th 1893; Rex Edition, Tuesday February 14th 1893; Comus Edition, Tuesday February 22nd 1898; Rex Edition, Tuesday February 22nd 1898. Each is moderately worn at the edges, but are well preserved overall, colors unfaded and sharp. Separated fold seams have been repaired with transparent archival pH neutral material where possible (the lower middle seam of the 1898 Rex edition is chipped beyond this kind of repair) and each can lay flat for archival framing if desired.
