The Planters House hotel, on Fourth Street just north of the St. Louis County (Old) Courthouse, where Lyon and Jackson met in June 1861. One of the city\'s major hotels at the time, this one was the second of three to carry that name. The first opened in 1817 on Second Street and was replaced by this, much larger one, in 1841. The second Planters House was heavily damaged by fire in 1887 and demolished four years later, to be replaced by a third and last Planters House. The third was demolished in 1976 to make way for Boatmen\'s Tower, now the Bank of America building. (Missouri History Museum).
